Apples, Apples when will THERE be APPLES?

 It is hard to believe, but apples will be coming before we know it.  The old adage an "Apple a Day keeps the Dr. Away," is correct.  Apples are high in fiber, multi-flavored, and multi-uses.  An apple is one of the most popular self-contained fruits. However, they still need love.

Early apples start around the same time as peaches, mid to late August.  Unlike peaches, the apple season for Our Little Orchard, goes till the applies run out, or the driveway is no longer passable due to snow. 


                         

There are many types of apples.  For our blog and OLO, the early apples are as follows:

The Summer Rambo is an early to mid-fall apple.  When picking applies, you still need to have a light touch to avoid bruising. 

There are many things you can do with early apples.  For instance

Chunky Apple Cake
 I think this will be my first try this season.

HAPPY EARTH DAY 2021

Happy Earth Day 2021 from  Our Little Orchard  Yes, it is Earth Day 2021, and what a great way to honor the day by checking out some more pictures from OLO: These are a couple taken from Pegs, my BIG sister, and Mrs. Pyle's second-floor window.  Just to give you an idea of how large the zion orchard location is. They cover cherries and pea ches.  You might also catch a glimpse of some pear trees.     As we all know, the apples are just starting to blossom, but they will be outstanding, weather providing.   Chris Pyle is the owner and worker bee when it comes to getting ready for the upcoming seasons.  Here are just a couple of his tools of the trade. A picking ladder is a must.  Unlike your household ladders, it has a single leg on one side to fit into the tree.
